Save vs. Fail

These are all a couple yrs old now, but I had them tucked away on a photobucket acct, figured I’d toss them up here. Enjoy.

So I came across all the truescale stuff recently. (shut up I have been without miniatures for a few yrs) and thought I’d give it a go. Problem was… I had no terminator models and didn’t feel like buying a new box, luckily there is a termie in the DA tactical squad box, though I’m unsure exactly why that is.

Anyhow. I followed the guide over on Master of the Forge and I think it came out ok, especially considering I’ve never done any sculpting, with greenstuff or otherwise and I chose poorly when it comes to the termie legs for the conversion. I do not recommend those ones from the DA box.

At the end of the day the greenstuff isn’t quite as clean as I’d like and I totally forgot to add in the panels and seams and power outlets and such but I’m reasonable happy with this as a first attempt.

I had ordered a box of the Chapterhouse Tru Scale bits and had mixed feelings on them, most of the shoulderpads are pretty good, the backpacks are great, same with the torsos but the legs felt too “weedy” to me, gangly Space Marines… do not want. Ultimately though I ended up using their shoulderpads and backpack and will likely continue to do so if I make more of these guys simple because I can’t be arsed with doing that part of the conversion.

Rifleman group for the Armsmen are done, along with their Sgt. Decided to go with a more standard GW mode for the Sgt so hes tooled up for close combat. These are all basically just head and torso swaps. Nothing crazy like the melee armsmen below.

And the WIP of a Calix Templar Psykana. There’s still a lot of gap filling to be done, but I’m really happy with how this one has come along.

For when you absolutely, positively have to suppress every motherfuckin’ cultist in the room. Accept no substitutes.

Also, this guy…

Melee Armsmen sorted. Still missing the proper shoulder plates. Those should tie them together and make them look more 40k-ey. (It’s a technical term, shut up.)

And just because I’ve been dying to do one of these conversions, and the above boarding party needed a proper commander. I give you Spaaaaaace Goooooaaat!!

Yeah, I was actually watching Heartbreak Ridge while I kitbashed these guys together.

I was originally going to use the USCMC heads from the same guys who made the boonie hats to make some Colonial Marines, but they didn’t work out so hot when actually assembled, No fault of the aftermarket bitz, mostly just a case of all the pieces not working together like I thought they would… BUT the recon guys came out pretty slick if I do say so myself.

I have 7 of these guys built up, sort of deciding whether or not I want to put another sniper in the group. They won’t ever be used for an IG army, more likely as mooks for various Rogue Trader sessions.

Also now I need to figure out how to paint wilderness camo. Ugh.

So, yeah… I really shouldn’t be allowed to play with superglue and bigass bitz boxes of Warhammer minis. I tend to do stupid stuff. I saw the Captain Morgan pose from the Catachan command box and thought… “pfft thats dumb as hell, I’ll never use that.” Then I saw this BOSS hat in the Imperial Militia sprue and thus…

Spent all day yesterday clipping bitz off of sprues to save space and populate bitz boxes… ugh. I wish I actually liked playing GW’s games.
